Simple Granola

This is from the More-with-Less Cookbook and I have some baking in the oven right now! I had all of the ingredients on hand and am hoping this will be a simpler way to have our daily granola with out purchasing it in the store.

Preheat oven to 250.

Combine in a large mixing bowl:
2 cups whole wheat flour
6 cups rolled oats
1 cup coconut
1 cup wheat germ

Blend together separately:
1/2 cup water
1 cup oil
1 cup coconut
1 cup honey or corn syrup
2 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. salt

Add blended liquids to dry ingredients and mix thoroughly.
Spread out on 2 greased cookie sheets and bake 1 hour or until dry and golden.
Store in covered containers.

Do you have any suggestions of something to use instead of coconut? Thats really not my favorite flavor.
